The General Cemetery of Valencia was inaugurated in June 1807. At the beginning only there were niches, but years later succesive enlargements happened and many rich pantheons were built.

Monument to victims of cholera (built above a mass grave). In 1885, more than 5000 persons died in Valencia due an epidemic.
